ShinTravel Iran is an offline Persian (Farsi) phrasebook for Japanese travelers. Questions, bug reports, or App Store support requests can be sent to the address below.
App behavior
- The app works completely offline.
- It does not require login.
- Favorites are stored locally on the device.
- Audio playback uses the device speech feature (expo-speech / iOS speech synthesis).
- Persian (fa-IR) voices are not bundled with iOS by default. If a Persian voice is not installed, the app automatically falls back to an Arabic voice (for example Maged or Laila) which produces an approximate but understandable reading of the Perso-Arabic script. To install a voice, open Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices on iOS, or Settings → System → Languages and input → Text-to-speech on Android.
Learning features
- Perso-Arabic alphabet chart (32 letters) with name, romanization, kana reading, and example words.
- Shape-based memorization hints for each letter.
- Alphabet recognition quiz with mistake history (frequently missed letters appear more often).
- Confusable character group quizzes (for example ر/ز, د/ذ, ب/پ).
- Handwriting practice on a touch canvas with trace-mode scoring.
Updates
ShinTravel Iran will continue to be updated with more travel phrases, local food names, audio coverage, alphabet examples, and practical situations encountered while traveling in Iran.
